You can make a difference for families like Nadege and her daughter, Iva. Nadege grew up in Rwanda, Africa. In 2010 she boarded a plane by herself and came to America. In 2016, about to become a single mom, Nadege was fortunate to receive help from supportive friends, one of whom connected her with Little Dolphin School (LDS).

Nadege enrolled her infant daughter, Iva, at LDS. With support from teachers and staff, Nadege was able to provide Iva with consistent, nurturing, and educational childcare. LDS helped to coordinate special services for Iva such as occupational and speech therapy. When it came time to pay the bill, the Sheila Brier Scholarship Fund was instrumental in assisting Nadege and Iva.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, and the trusting relationships fostered at LDS, Nadege and Iva have blossomed into capable, confident, and thriving individuals.

Increasing costs. Escalating need. Retaining the best and brightest staff. These factors are greatly impacting the availability of childcare in our country. Since the onset of COVID-19, many childcare centers in Southern Maine have been forced to close due to smaller student enrollments, staffing shortages, and lack of funds. Little Dolphin School (LDS) has persevered through the pandemic.
Little Dolphin teachers like Meredith Miller chose a profession in early childhood education to make a difference in the lives of young children. Along with her colleagues, Meredith works to advocate for the needs of each child, nurturing a strong social and educational foundation that children can build on for a lifetime.
Having taught at LDS for 18 years, Meredith is no stranger to connecting with families, helping students, and working with colleagues to provide a fun, safe, dependable educational environment.
As the childcare shortage reaches crisis levels, we continue to invest in our mission to provide high-quality, comprehensive childcare services for children ages 0-6 regardless of social or economic status. Your gift helps us continue to hire the most talented, caring, innovative educators to work with children through these critical developmental stages and ready them for their next steps.
